Abstract:

cognitive rehabilitation is a group of designed techniques that is for the promotion of cognitive domains in people with disease or disability. cognitive rehabilitation therapy (CRT) is the science of restoring cognitive processing and learning compensatory strategies and it affects the molecular and cellular recovery rehabilitation by integration of behavioral and cognitive changes. The promotion of rehabilitation science of cognitive neuroscience has made it a priority by the help of full range of effected interventional procedures. It has been able to achieve the desired goals in the chain of theoretical and experimental science on the basis of behavioral interventions which is made of neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, physiology, pharmacology, medical imaging, and other medical disciplines and achieved some success in compensatory and medical strategies after surgery. cognitive impairment after brain surgery is huge health challenges beyond the common disorders associated with diseases. Our approach to CRT is on the assumption that treatment would be the most effective way when focusing on the cognitive sub-systems after neurosurgery and these are also affected by other aspects of life as a patient emotions, nutrition, health, stress, and social performance. Intervention in the passive skills can lead to neuro-cognitive rehabilitation that includes designed experience on the basis of nerve and brain function and structure. A failure of cognitive or brain processing during or after surgery is an abnormal result and these impairments are treated better with CRT. This method is on the basis of neuroplastisity, reorganization of damaged cortical through morphological and physiological responses of nerve reconstruction ways by techniques in neuro-cognitive disorders due to illness, injury or disability, even in healthy individuals which are affected by environment, the complexity of stimulation, repeated tasks and motivation.

Abstract:

2Introduction: Epilepsy can impact cognitive ability in children. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of task-oriented cognitive rehabilitation programs and computer-based cognitive rehabilitation programs on cognitive flexibility in children suffering from epilepsy. Materials and Methods: This study was a semi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the study included all children with epilepsy who were referred to the neurology clinic of Mofid Children's Hospital, Tehran in 2021. Using the purposeful sampling method, 45 eligible children were included in the study and were randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group (15 people in each group). In order to collect data, the Wisconsin cards test from Grant and Berg (1948) was used. Results: The results showed that both task-oriented cognitive rehabilitation programs and computer-based cognitive rehabilitation programs significantly increased cognitive flexibility in children with epilepsy compared with the control group. There was no significant difference in the computer-based cognitive section on the increase of cognitive flexibility in children with epilepsy. Conclusion: Task-based cognitive rehabilitation programs and computer-based cognitive rehabilitation programs can be a useful approach to increase the cognitive flexibility of children with epilepsy.

Abstract:

Introduction: Tailoring the content of health information to the needs, preferences and abilities of individuals, leads to more informed and empowered health consumers. Computerized tailoring of Health Information requires patient’ s characteristics. A user profile consists of personal data which are basic components in designing computer-tailoring systems. The present study aimed to identify and categorize aspects related to designing, implementing, and interpreting user profile in health computer-tailoring. Methods: In this scoping review, leading databases such as PubMed and Scopus were reviewed using Arksey and O’ Malley’ s scoping review methodology as a guide. Furthermore, reference lists of relevant literature and key journals were searched. The search was limited to English language articles published from 1990 onwards. Search strings consisted of several keywords related to four main concepts: Individualization, Information, ICT platform, and Health Domain. Results: The analysis of data, collected from a total of 32 eligible studies, highlighted three aspects in designing a user profile. 1-Identifying common factors used in profiles and classifying them thematically, 2-Data collection tools and methods, and 3-Data interpretation. Conclusion: Different aspects of designing a user profile in health information tailoring systems were investigated. The proposed model could be considered as a valuable guide for new researchers in the field.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of this study is to compare cognitive rehabilitation and mixed treatment of cognitive rehabilitation with emotion regulation on quality of life in patients with HIV-associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND). Method: This study was a quasi-experimental research conducted in form of pretest-posttest and followup, with two experimental groups. 46 HIV patients that had HIV-associated Neurocognitive Disorder, were selected and were included randomly in two experimental group (n=23). One experimental group administered a cognitive rehabilitation and another experimental group received both cognitive rehabilitation and emotion regulation. Participants completed the WHOQOL-HIV-BREF questionnaire in the pretest, posttest and follow-up assessment. The data were analyzed using ANOVA with repeated measure. Result: The results illustrate that the two groups differed at postassessment. In particular, the experimental group 2 showed a remarkable improvement in WHOQOL-HIV-BREF. At the follow-up assessment, the experimental group 2 also showed more improvement than experimental group 1. However, there was a slight decrease in follow-up assessment in comparison to the post-assessment in both groups. Conclusion: The results showed that combination therapy of cognitive rehabilitation and emotion regulation is more effective than cognitive rehabilitation alone, in improving the quality of life of HIV patients with neurocognitive disorders (HAND).
